2015 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes Final Field and Barrier Draw

Eight runners have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes (2000m); highlighted by the inclusion of several previous winners at the highest level of Australian racing.

Criterion will make his Australian racing return in the 2015 Caulfield Stakes, but will need some luck in running for success first-up after being allocated the wide and somewhat awkward barrier 7.

Criterion stamped his claims as one to watch through the 2013 edition of the Spring Carnival, but undoubtedly registered peak condition for the first time during the 2014 Autumn Carnival, highlighted by consecutive wins in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m).

Continuing to impress last spring, the Sebring entire returned to racing this year in exceptional condition; running third in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) and second in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) before producing a career-best victory in the major Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m).

Having produced several commendable results in some of the world’s standout middle distance events through a recent trip abroad, class is sure to carry Criterion a long way towards success in the 2015 Caulfield Stakes.

Fawkner has also returned to racing in exceptional condition this season and will be very hard to beat in the 2015 Caulfield Stakes from barrier 4, with in-form hoop Craig Williams aboard.

Posting an impressive eleven wins and nine minors through 28 career starts, the 2013 Caulfield Cup winner returned this time for success in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) before running an agonizingly-close second in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) a fortnight ago.

Contributer and Pornichet have remained near the top line of Cox Plate betting since both registering standout autumn and winter campaigns and will contest their final tune-ups in the 2015 Caulfield Stakes.

Contributer was Godolphin’s standout through autumn; winning the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) first-up before taking out each of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) in succession.

While yet to hit peak condition this time, the High Chaparral gelding will leave from the rails draw with Blake Shinn aboard.

Pornichet continued to impress without posting a maiden win at the highest level in autumn, but a trip north for the Brisbane winter paid dividends when the entire charged home to win the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m).

Kermadec will contest his first race over 2000m in the 2015 Caulfield Stakes but has been charged with overcoming the handy field from the outside gate.

Posting several impressive results through the Autumn Carnival, the Teofilo entire capped his preparation with success in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Having quickly built to the task this time, Kermadec will carrying winning form into the 2015 Caulfield Stakes after taking out the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) last time out.

Popular runner Happy Trails will leave from barrier 6 in the 2015 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes, while Entirely Platinum and Mongolian Khan complete the final field.
