Carrying exceptional winning form into this week’s Group 1, trainer Chris Waller has confirmed Sacred Falls in the final field for the 2014 Caulfield Stakes.

Claiming an impressive total of nine race wins and three minor places from just 22 competitive starts so far, Sacred Falls began his racing career under the guidance of kiwi trainer Tony Pike; winning the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas (1600m) in 2012 most notably before transferring to the care of Waller at the beginning of 2013.

Immediately stamping his claims as one to watch over his maiden Australian prep which peaked with an impressive win in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m), the O’reilly entire has arguably returned to racing in career best form this year; successfully defending his Doncaster Mile crown in autumn and quickly building towards a win in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) last time out on September 20th.

Allocated the wide and somewhat awkward barrier 12, Waller his confident regular jockey Zac Purton will again get the best from Sacred Falls in the 2014 Caulfield Stakes.

Also confirmed in the final field for the 2014 Caulfield Stakes is 2013 Caulfield Cup champion and in-form stayer Fawkner.

Securing a commendable race record of nine wins and a further seven minor places from just 23 competitive starts so far, Fawkner was a standout performer over the 2013 Spring Carnival; steadily building to the task in finishing fifth in the George Main Stakes and third in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) before charging home to win the Caulfield Cup (2400m) by close to two lengths; returning to the paddock after finishing a credible sixth in in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m).

Having finished second in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) first-up this time, trainer Robert Hickmott is confident the Reset gelding will settle in prime position from the ideal barrier 4 and is confident of a return to the winner’s circle in the Caulfield Stakes.

Returning to the track in career-best form this time in, trainer Peter Moody has underlined the featured Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) as the major target for Dissident through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival and this weekend’s Group 1 Caulfield Stakes as the final competitive point of call in the lead-up.

Beginning the year with a close run for second in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) before claiming back-to-back victories in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), Dissident has without doubt been the country’s standout performer over three starts since returning in spring.

Winning the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) first-up on August 30th, the Sebring entire repeated the dose when beating Fawkner to the line in the Makybe Diva Stakes before running an agonizingly close second when carrying a race-high weight in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) last time out.

Confirmed to be partnered by regular jockey Ben Melham, Dissident will carry just 58kgs in the Caulfield Stakes and will leave from barrier 8.
